The American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) Annual Meeting was an incredible learning and networking experience for our project. Leaders in the cardiovascular and cardiac rehabilitation fields, as well as pulmonary medicine, attended this conference from across the country. General sessions, breakout groups, and roundtable discussions provided forums for education and discussion related to innovations and trends in cardiovascular medicine and rehabilitation, clinical practice, and research.
Highlights of the conference include sessions led by experts in the field, including Dr. Randall Thomas, Dr. Amit Sood, Dr. Mark Windt, Dr. Paul Thompson and Dr. Murray Low, among many others. Topics ranged from stress- free lifestyles, to medication trials, to healthcare reform. Of particular interest to our project was a presentation by Dr. Ana Mola of NYU and Joseph Gallagher of VNSNY related to cardiac rehabilitation in home health care. Mola and Gallagher are integral partners to the success of our project, and their presentation provided insight about the gaps in cardiac care and the potential for home-based support to program directors and healthcare professionals from across the country.
It was an honor to meet experts in the field and discuss our project with AACVPR leaders. The feedback and guidance we receive from national external organizations is invaluable to our program design and dissemination down the road.
